| Sustaining a Rural Identity. Marsden is "bucking the trend" of smaller towns and villages losing their character and identities, according to the Council for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE). CPRE representatives commented: "you can buy all your day to day goods in Marsden. The only things we couldn't tick on our lists were a furniture shop or a bank - but you can get money from a hole in the wall." The Marsden Business Association is committed to keeping Marsden a proper village with a full range of shops and tradespeople. |
We need to work together to ensure that those living in the village - especially the many newcomers - are aware of what is available on their doorsteps. We need to make sure that Marsden businesses do business with each other as much as possible. We also need to work together to ensure that Marsden benefits from funding initiatives, and has a clear voice with Kirklees Metropolitan Council on issues affecting the village. |
